About Darcy
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck in patterns that seem impossible to change, navigating a difficult relationship, recovering from trauma, or simply sensing that life isn’t unfolding in the way you’d hoped, therapy can offer a space to understand what’s happening and move towards something different.
Darcy understands that reaching out for therapy is rarely an easy decision. His aim is to create an environment where people feel comfortable enough to speak openly, make sense of their experiences without judgement, and work together towards meaningful and lasting change. He believes that effective therapy isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about building a relationship where genuine curiosity, honesty, and collaboration can help people find their own.
Before becoming a psychologist, Darcy worked as a contemporary dancer before serving as an Officer in the Australian Defence Force. Living and working in these very different worlds gave him an appreciation for the many ways people respond to pressure, change, achievement, loss, trauma, identity, and uncertainty. More importantly, they reinforced a belief that every person’s story is different, and that therapy should reflect that.
Darcy completed a Bachelor of Psychological Science (First Class Honours) and a Master of Clinical Psychology at the University of Queensland. He is a Board-approved Supervisor, trained in EMDR, and a member of the Australian Psychological Society.
He has worked across acute hospital settings and private practice with adults experiencing a broad range of concerns. These include anxiety, OCD, trauma and complex trauma, dissociation, relationship and intimacy difficulties, sexuality and identity, depression, burnout, grief, life transitions, and the broader questions of meaning, purpose, and direction that many people encounter throughout life. He also has a particular interest in supporting current and former Defence personnel, first responders, healthcare professionals, and others whose work has exposed them to significant stress or trauma.
Darcy’s therapeutic approach is informed by Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), EMDR, and contemporary trauma-informed practice. Rather than fitting people into a predetermined model, he works to understand the unique patterns, relationships, and experiences that have shaped them, tailoring therapy to their individual needs, values, and goals.
Clients often describe Darcy as warm, thoughtful, and genuine. Alongside compassion, he values honesty and believes that therapy is at its best when difficult conversations can happen within a trusting relationship. While sessions should feel supportive, they should also create opportunities for new perspectives, meaningful insight, and lasting change.
Ultimately, Darcy’s hope is that people leave therapy not only with fewer symptoms, but with a deeper understanding of themselves, stronger relationships, and greater confidence in navigating whatever life brings next.
