About Annabelle

Clinical Psychologist Annabelle Young has extensive experience in working with people with depressionanxiety (including panic), adjustment difficulties, stress, low self-esteem, grief and loss and interpersonal difficulties. She has a special interest in assisting people with health issues – particularly cardiovascular / heart health and diabetes concerns.

Annabelle takes a warm, individualised and pragmatic approach to therapy.  She enjoys helping clients to develop insight into the factors that may be contributing to their difficulties.  She uses a collaborative approach to address her clients’ concerns.

She has more than ten years of clinical experience aiding clients in a range of settings including private practice, private hospital, government services (chronic disease and alcohol and drugs) and occupational rehabilitation. Annabelle is an experienced Clinical Psychologist who holds a Bachelor of Psychological Science and Master of Psychology (Clinical).

Annabelle has a keen interest in assisting individuals who have been recently diagnosed with a new health condition.  A new diagnosis can be overwhelming and impact many areas of a person’s life:  ability to work, finances, roles within the family, and the need for lifestyle changes. Newly diagnosed and chronic health conditions can impact upon a person’s psychological wellbeing and can contribute to stress, anxiety, low mood, and adjustment difficulties, loss of confidence, existential issues, and often the need for health behaviour change.

Annabelle creates a comfortable space in which to explore these factors, and address cognitive, emotional and behavioural patterns to improve psychological and physical health outcomes. Annabelle is particularly passionate about working with clients with a diagnosis of cardiovascular disease following first episode cardiac events, and additionally individuals with diabetes.

Annabelle is highly experienced in working with clients with long-standing anxiety and depression.  She is skilled in assisting clients to identify and shift enduring patterns in thinking, behaviour and interpersonal dynamics that maintain these difficulties. Annabelle finds Schema Focused Therapy to be particularly helpful with long-standing mental health concerns.

Annabelle offers in-office, teleconference or online counselling.
