Annabelle has a keen interest in assisting individuals who have been recently diagnosed with a new health condition. A new diagnosis can be overwhelming and impact many areas of a person’s life: ability to work, finances, roles within the family, and the need for lifestyle changes. Newly diagnosed and chronic health conditions can impact upon a person’s psychological wellbeing and can contribute to stress, anxiety, low mood, and adjustment difficulties, loss of confidence, existential issues, and often the need for health behaviour change.
Annabelle creates a comfortable space in which to explore these factors, and address cognitive, emotional and behavioural patterns to improve psychological and physical health outcomes. Annabelle is particularly passionate about working with clients with a diagnosis of cardiovascular disease following first episode cardiac events, and additionally individuals with diabetes.
Annabelle is highly experienced in working with clients with long-standing anxiety and depression. She is skilled in assisting clients to identify and shift enduring patterns in thinking, behaviour and interpersonal dynamics that maintain these difficulties. Annabelle finds Schema Focused Therapy to be particularly helpful with long-standing mental health concerns.
